Abstract:
This talk is a topical overview of gravitational waves, their orgins and methods used to detect them. In this talk we also show how gravitational wave can be used to do a new kind of astronomy and that this new type of astronomy is complimentary to existing astronomical efforts. In closing we also talk about one way the public can become involved with gravitational wave search efforts.
