Abstract:

The picket fence is a set of streamed seismic stations intended to provide early warning for teleseismic events to the LIGO sites.

We show the picket fence has potential to give accurate estimates earthquake-related ground motion for both LIGO sites. However, in order to be impactful as an early warning system we must improve latency of the streamed sensor data. Less than 50 seconds of delay are needed for the picket fence to achieve its potential. We suggest reaching out to the people and institutions running the seismic data streams for help with this endeavor.
