Design, Control, and Performance of a Prototype Advanced LIGO Single-Stage Seismic Isolation Platform

Abstract:

In preparation for Advanced LIGO, two prototype single stage isolation platforms were built and installed in the 4 km detectors for Enhanced LIGO in 2008. These prototypes served to demonstrate that the isolation system can meet Advanced LIGO requirements for the vacuum (HAM) chambers under the power recycling cavity in all six degrees of freedom. This paper describes the design, model, commissioning and results from these prototypes, in addition to the modifications to their design such that they meet Advanced LIGO requirements for all chambers.
