Abstract:

Advanced LIGO (aLIGO) is a significant upgrade to initial LIGO with an order of magnitude improvement in astrophysical reach, covering three orders of magnitude more volume than before.
aLIGO instruments are to become operational in 2014, and are expected to approach the design sensitivity over the period of 5 years.
In this talk, current status as well as the future road map of aLIGO are discussed.
