Abstract:

A SURF project was completed investigating laser frequency stabilisation using cryogenic silicon reference cavities. In this final presentation, an introduction is made to the use of reference cavities and the potential advantages of cryogenic silicon. The methodology of the group working at Caltech is detailed. Work completed over the summer, investigating the apparatus' thermal system, is described and results shown.
