Abstract:
The possibility of beating quantum noise in gravitational wave detectors has become more and more realistic in recent years.
A worldwide effort made the use of squeezing possible in large scale detectors, giving a glimpse of the future in which squeezing will be a technology commonly used in gravitational wave physics.
In this talk I will summarize results from the squeezing experiment carried out last year on the 4 km long interferometer at the LIGO Hanford Observatory.
